About the Role

A leading organisation within the UK energy and utilities sector is seeking an experienced Jointer to support the delivery of street lighting, electrical connections and jointing services across DNO, IDNO and private electrical networks.

This role will focus on carrying out LV cable jointing, electrical connections, testing and fault-finding activities while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with industry standards. Working closely with operational teams, supervisors and apprentices, you will play a key role in delivering infrastructure projects across the region.

You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of workmanship, supervising junior team members where required, and ensuring all activities are carried out in line with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out mains and service cable jointing on DNO, IDNO and private electrical distribution networks.
  • Complete LV cable jointing and electrical connections associated with street lighting and unmetered supplies.
  • Carry out testing, fault-finding and commissioning of private electrical networks.
  • Supervise Jointer's Mates and provide training and support to apprentices.
  • Work in accordance with relevant DNO and IDNO authorisations and operating procedures.
  • Drive company and specialist vehicles appropriate to the role.
  • Carry out site risk assessments and maintain safe working practices at all times.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures.
  • Build positive working relationships with customers, clients and colleagues while delivering a high standard of service.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.

About You

You are an experienced electrical Jointer with a strong understanding of LV distribution networks, street lighting and underground cable jointing. You are confident working on DNO and IDNO networks, maintaining high safety standards and supporting less experienced members of the team.

You enjoy working in a practical environment, take pride in delivering high-quality work and are committed to providing excellent customer service while maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship or Street Lighting/LV Services training programme.
  • City & Guilds 236 Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent) with extensive and proven industry experience.
  • 18th Edition BS7671 Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Previous G39 qualification.
  • Current NRSWA accreditation.
  • Relevant DNO/IDNO authorisations to carry out 3-phase underground connections.
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution networks and underground cable jointing.
  • Experience interpreting 1:500 electrical network diagrams.
  • Current CSCS accreditation.
  • Current First Aid and Manual Handling certificates.
  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Experience supervising Jointer's Mates or apprentices.
  • Experience working on street lighting and unmetered electrical networks.
  • Strong understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) procedures.
  • Experience working on DNO, IDNO or utility infrastructure projects.
