Role: Design & Studio Assistant
We are looking for a talented, highly organized, and motivated Design & Studio Assistant to join Joshua Kane, working within the atelier floor at their newly opened townhouse at 9 Gower Street, London.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong foundation in garment construction and tailoring who is looking to develop their skills within a creative, fast-paced fashion environment.
Working closely with the design and studio team, you will support the development and production of garments from initial concept through to finished pieces. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong practical sewing and pattern-cutting skills, and take genuine pride in producing work to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the design and studio team with the development and construction of garments.
- Supporting pattern cutting, pattern alterations, garment cutting, and garment development.
- Assisting with tailoring and garment construction.
- Carrying out high-quality hand sewing and finishing.
- Supporting fittings where required.
- Preparing garments, patterns, fabrics, and trims for fittings, development, and production.
- Assisting with samples and one-off pieces while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship.
- Helping to ensure garments are completed accurately and to the required standard.
- Maintaining an organized, clean, and professional studio environment.
- Carefully handling and organizing fabrics, garments, patterns, trims, and studio materials.
- Providing general studio support across the design and production process when required.

Experience & Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 1 year’s professional experience within the fashion industry or a comparable studio environment.
- Experience in tailoring and garment construction.
- Good pattern-cutting and pattern-development skills.
- A high level of hand-sewing ability, with excellent attention to detail and finishing.
- A strong understanding of garment construction and quality.
- A neat, methodical, and organized approach to working.
- The ability to work accurately and efficiently in a busy studio environment.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to support different areas of the studio when required.
- Excellent attention to detail and a genuine pride in both their work and their working environment.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is passionate about fashion, tailoring, and craftsmanship and who enjoys being directly involved in the creation of garments.
You should be practical, reliable, and highly organized, with a strong eye for detail and an appreciation for quality. This role would suit someone who wants to continue developing their technical and creative skills while gaining valuable experience within a professional fashion studio.
