About the Role

As our new Journal Manager - Production, you will focus on supporting external journal clients by ensuring production processes run smoothly, meet agreed standards, and align with evolving needs. You’ll advise on best practices, troubleshoot issues, and provide clear guidance to help clients achieve high-quality, efficient, and consistent publication outcomes.

You will act as the main point of contact for editors, societies, editorial office staff, and suppliers managing queries, gathering feedback, and communicating updates to internal and external teams. The position involves preparing and presenting accurate reports on production performance, maintaining essential documentation, attending meetings with societies, and coordinating process changes with internal colleagues and external suppliers.

A key part of the role is collaborating with clients to refine workflows, recommend improvements, and support editorial planning, including issue line-ups. Success depends on strong communication, relationship-building, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal teams and external partners.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
