Whytematter are delighted to be partnering with a well-established publishing and media organisation to recruit an experienced Journalist.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a respected editorial team, producing high-quality journalism across a portfolio of established publications covering business, public policy, and current affairs throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. You'll have the opportunity to interview senior leaders, cover major developments, and produce content that reaches influential decision-makers.
The Role
As a Journalist, you'll be responsible for researching, writing, and delivering engaging editorial content across both print and digital platforms. Working as part of an experienced editorial team, you'll contribute original journalism while covering key political, business, and public policy developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, write, and deliver original journalism and analytical content.
- Conduct in-depth interviews with senior business leaders, politicians, and public policy figures.
- Cover key developments across government, business, and public affairs.
- Produce engaging editorial content for both print and digital publications.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and editorial quality across all written content.
- Proofread publications to maintain the highest editorial standards.
- Contribute ideas during editorial planning meetings.
- Support forward planning and publication schedules.
- Work primarily from the Maghaberry office, with occasional travel for interviews and events, including regular visits to Dublin.

About You
We're looking for a curious, motivated, and commercially aware journalist who enjoys producing high-quality content and thrives in a fast-paced editorial environment.
Essential Criteria
- A recognised journalism qualification or recent journalism experience with strong news judgment.
- Proven ability to produce original, engaging journalism.
- Experience writing analytical content to tight deadlines.
- Strong interviewing skills.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.
- A good understanding of how audiences consume content across multiple platforms.
- Strong knowledge of politics, business, current affairs, and public policy across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
- Ideally two or more years' experience within print journalism, although outstanding newly qualified journalists will also be considered.
