Junior 3D Designer

Company: Metro Production Group (MPG)

Location: London

Salary: fixed term contract 12 months

Metro Production Group (MPG) is a full-service creative events agency within the WPP group, based in London. We deliver events for corporate clients across financial services, pharma, and tech, ranging from intimate gatherings of 50 to large-scale productions of 1,000+ attendees. Our creative studio leads the concept, design, and storytelling behind every event we produce.

THE ROLE:

The Junior 3D Designer / Conceptual Designer sits within MPG's Design Studio reporting directly to the Creative Director. The role is primarily focused on 3D visualisation and rendering — turning briefs and concept direction from the Conceptual Designer, Creative Lead, and Creative Director into polished, presentation-ready visuals for stage sets, event environments, pop-ups, and activations. Alongside this, the role offers a genuine path into conceptual design: as skills and confidence develop, there is scope to contribute more of the creative and spatial thinking that shapes a brief, not just the visualisation of it. This is a hands-on, craft-first role for someone early in their career who wants to build both technical and conceptual design muscle within a live events studio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

3D Design & Rendering (primary focus)

  • Produce accurate, polished 3D models and renders in SketchUp and 3DS Max from briefs provided by the Conceptual Designer, Creative Lead, or Creative Director.
  • Translate concept sketches, mood boards, and directional briefs into presentation-ready visualisations of stage sets, event environments, pop-ups, and activations.
  • Support the Conceptual / 3D Designers on live projects, ensuring renders stay true to the intended spatial and experiential direction.
  • Apply consistent attention to materials, lighting, and scale so renders read clearly and credibly to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage working files in an organised, well-labelled way so work can be picked up and iterated on by others in the team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Conceptual Design (developing)

  • Contribute ideas and spatial thinking during early concept development, under the guidance of the Creative Director.
  • Support mood board creation, reference gathering, and early-stage visual exploration.
  • As skills and confidence grow, take on increasing ownership of small-scale concept elements, with direction and sign-off from the Creative Director.

Craft & Process

  • Use the Adobe Creative Suite to support presentation and mood board development.
  • Explore AI tools to support ideation and visualisation workflows.
  • Stay curious about trends in experiential design, spatial experience, and event technology.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

  • Some professional or academic experience in 3D visualisation for events, spatial design, or a related discipline. At this level, a strong portfolio matters more than years of experience.
  • Working proficiency in SketchUp and 3DS Max, with the ability to turn a brief or sketch into an accurate, polished render.
  • Confidence across the Adobe Creative Suite to support presentation and mood board work.
  • An emerging interest in conceptual and experiential design — curiosity about the thinking behind a brief, not just the building of it.
  • A collaborative mindset — comfortable taking direction from the Conceptual Designer, Creative Lead, and Creative Director, and open to feedback as a core part of developing craft.
  • Familiarity with AI tools for ideation and visualisation is a plus.
  • Experience with Monday.com or an equivalent project management platform is a plus.
