Junior Account Manager

Location: Manchester city centre

Working pattern: Hybrid, with Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the office

Salary: Dependent on experience

Extras: Performance bonuses, team incentives and unlimited access to suspiciously good free coffee

About Kindling

Kindling helps brilliant creative agencies get into conversations with the brands they’d love to work with. Sounds simple. It isn’t.

We’re not a call centre. We don’t fire out thousands of identical emails, cross our fingers and call it “lead generation”. We build carefully researched, highly personalised campaigns that get the right agencies in front of the right people, at the right time.

Every client has a different story, a different ambition and a different list of dream brands. Our job is to understand what makes them genuinely brilliant, then turn that into conversations that can change their business.

We’re growing quickly, and we’re now looking for a Junior Account Manager to join us right in the heart of Manchester.

This is not a sit quietly, wait for instructions and count down to Friday kind of role. It’s an opportunity to join a growing company, take real ownership and become a hugely important part of where Kindling goes next.

The Role

As a Junior Account Manager, you’ll sit right at the heart of the business.

You’ll work across a small group of creative agency clients, learning what makes each of them special, who they want to work with and why those brands should take notice.

You’ll research target companies, uncover the right decision-makers and find thoughtful, interesting ways to start conversations with them.

No copy-and-paste scripts. No robotic “just checking in” emails. No treating people like names on a spreadsheet.

You’ll write personalised outreach, make calls, build relationships and help create introductions that could lead to genuinely valuable partnerships.

You’ll also work closely with clients to sharpen their messaging, improve how they position themselves and make sure their new-business materials are doing them justice.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll be trusted with real clients, real conversations and real responsibility. You’ll receive plenty of support and training, but we’ll also encourage you to bring your own ideas, personality and perspective to the table.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be:

  • Building focused lists of brands that genuinely make sense for each client.
  • Researching companies, sectors and senior decision-makers to understand what might get their attention.
  • Writing personalised, relevant outreach that sounds like it was written by an actual human being.
  • Picking up the phone, starting conversations and securing high-quality introductions.
  • Tracking what’s working, learning from what isn’t and constantly improving your approach.
  • Helping clients refine their messaging, positioning, websites and marketing materials.
  • Sharing regular updates, insights and recommendations with clients.
  • Working closely with our Account Managers and Client Delivery team to make every campaign stronger.
  • Playing an active role in the growth, culture and future of Kindling.

Who We’re Looking For

You do not need to arrive as the finished article.

You might already have some experience in account management, sales, recruitment, marketing, PR, hospitality, customer service or another people-focused role.

You might simply be a brilliant communicator who is ready to step into something more ambitious.

What matters most is how you think, how you communicate and how willing you are to learn.

You’ll probably thrive here if you are:

  • Confident and curious You enjoy speaking to people, asking questions and understanding what makes businesses tick.
  • A strong communicator You can write clearly, speak confidently and adapt your approach depending on who you’re talking to.
  • Creative You can find an interesting angle, spot a good story and avoid sounding like every other person in someone’s inbox.
  • Organised You can manage different clients, priorities and conversations without disappearing into a cloud of Post-it notes.
  • Proactive You do not wait to be spoon-fed every task. You ask questions, suggest ideas and look for ways to improve things.
  • Resilient You can take feedback, learn quickly and keep moving.
  • A proper team player Share ideas, celebrate wins, help each other through difficult days and take collective responsibility for the work.
  • Most importantly, bringing energy, warmth, ambition and a bit of personality. (We are building a team of individuals, not a row of corporate clones).

As your confidence and skills develop, you’ll have opportunities to take on more responsibility, manage larger client relationships and progress into a fully fledged Account Manager role.

We recognise hard work, reward improvement and promote people who make a real contribution.

You will not have to wait for somebody to leave before you’re allowed to move forward.

Sound Like You?

You might not tick every single box. That’s fine.

We’re more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, personality and potential than someone who has memorised the perfect interview answers.

So, if you’re looking for more than another job, and you want to join an ambitious Manchester business where you can learn quickly, make an impact and build a proper career, we’d love to hear from you.

Come and help us start some fires.
