We’re working with an ambitious, well-backed specialty insurance business that is taking a modern approach to the way risk is understood, managed and underwritten.

The business has been designed around a modern, technology-led approach, with significant investment in its internal systems and data infrastructure. Finance is a central part of that operation, giving the team a clear view of how the business is performing and helping shape the decisions being made as it continues to grow.

They’re now looking for a Junior Accountant to join the team and work closely with experienced finance professionals across a broad range of responsibilities.

This is not a narrow entry-level finance role. You’ll gain exposure across financial reporting, accounts payable, treasury, credit control, premium accounting and FP&A, giving you a genuine understanding of how a finance function operates from end to end.

It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to learn quickly, take responsibility and build a strong foundation in finance while working in an ambitious business where their contribution will be visible.

The Role

  • Supporting the production of monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Maintaining accurate general ledger records and ensuring financial transactions are correctly recorded and supported
  • Completing regular balance sheet reconciliations across bank, intercompany and control accounts
  • Assisting with year-end accounts and providing information required for external audit
  • Processing supplier invoices and ensuring payments are accurately coded, approved and processed on time
  • Preparing regular supplier payment runs and resolving discrepancies with suppliers where required
  • Managing employee expenses and corporate card transactions, checking supporting documentation and policy compliance
  • Supporting the day-to-day monitoring of cash across multiple accounts and currencies
  • Assisting with bank payments, foreign exchange reconciliations and month-end currency adjustments
  • Helping manage outstanding receivables and supporting the collection of overdue balances
  • Working with operational teams to reconcile income and transaction data between different systems
  • Supporting the preparation and processing of settlements and other financial transactions
  • Assisting with commission and income reconciliations and related reporting
  • Supporting VAT preparation and ensuring the underlying financial information is accurate and complete
  • Helping prepare information for management reporting, including KPIs, analysis and variance commentary
  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting activity and maintaining financial planning models
  • Getting involved in the implementation and improvement of finance systems as the business continues to develop its technology infrastructure

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You

We’re looking for someone at the early stages of their finance career who has the ambition to learn, develop and take on responsibility.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A 2:1 degree or above, ideally in finance, economics, mathematics, science or another numerate discipline
  • A genuine commitment to pursuing a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Good working knowledge of Excel, including formulas, Pivot Tables and handling financial data accurately
  • A solid understanding of numbers and an analytical approach to problem solving
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage several priorities at once
  • The confidence to communicate professionally with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved across different areas of the finance function
  • The ability to work independently, meet deadlines and take ownership without needing constant direction
  • A genuine interest in understanding how a business works rather than simply completing individual finance tasks

Previous experience within a finance environment would be useful, as would exposure to double-entry bookkeeping or cloud-based accounting platforms.

Experience with systems such as Sage Intacct or Xero, or an interest in working within financial or insurance services, would also be advantageous - but they're not essential.

If you don’t meet every requirement but have the right attitude, strong academic foundations and a genuine interest in building a career in finance, we’d still encourage you to apply.

Why Join?

This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who wants to learn finance properly in a business where they can see the bigger picture.

Rather than being placed into one small part of a large finance operation, you’ll gain exposure to multiple areas of the function and work closely with experienced finance professionals who can support your development.

The business is at an exciting stage of its growth, meaning you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a finance function that is still being developed and improved, rather than simply following processes that have been unchanged for years.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Gain broad exposure across the finance function
  • Work closely with experienced finance leadership
  • Develop practical experience alongside your professional studies
  • Take ownership of meaningful responsibilities from an early stage
  • Build experience across reporting, AP, treasury, credit control and FP&A
  • Gain exposure to modern finance systems and technology
  • See how financial information influences wider business decisions
  • Contribute ideas and help improve processes as the business grows
  • Build a strong foundation for a long-term career in finance

Interested?

If you’re an ambitious Junior Accountant looking for a role where you can gain broad exposure, develop your accounting knowledge and work closely with an experienced finance team, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a great opportunity to join a modern, ambitious business at an exciting stage of its growth, with genuine scope to learn, contribute and progress.
