Role Description
We're looking for an enthusiastic Accounts Junior to join our Hertford office. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone at the start of their career — including school leavers — who has a genuine interest in accountancy and finance and wants to learn on the job in a supportive, hands-on environment. You'll report directly to one of our Partners and be given real exposure to client work from day one.

Key responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation of accounts, bookkeeping, and VAT returns
- Supporting bank reconciliations and processing financial transactions
- Data entry and maintaining accurate financial records using accounting software
- Filing, scanning, and organising client documentation
- Helping prepare paperwork for self-assessment tax returns and payroll
- Responding to client queries by phone and email in a professional manner
- Providing general administrative support to the accounts team and Partners
- Learning and developing knowledge of accounting principles, software, and compliance requirements
What we're looking for
- No prior experience necessary — full training will be provided
- A keen interest in accountancy and finance, with a genuine desire to build a career in the profession
- Very tech-savvy, comfortable picking up new software quickly
- Confident using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- A proactive, organised approach and willingness to learn

Desirable (not essential)
- GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Prior exposure to accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
- Interest in studying towards an AAT qualification, with support from the firm
