Junior Payroll Accountant

KHMM | Full-time | UK Office

KHMM is looking for a Junior Payroll Accountant to join our Payroll & Accounts team.

This is a hands-on role for someone with practical UK payroll experience who is confident using Payroll Manager software and can manage multiple client payrolls accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly client payrolls.
  • Process starters, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, overtime, deductions and statutory payments.
  • Calculate PAYE, National Insurance and pension contributions.
  • Prepare and submit FPS and EPS under RTI.
  • Produce payslips, payroll reports, P45s and support P60 preparation.
  • Support workplace pension administration, including NEST.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and follow internal review and approval procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with clients regarding routine payroll matters.
  • Identify and escalate discrepancies, missing information and deadline risks promptly.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Previous UK payroll processing experience.
  • Practical experience using Payroll Manager software.
  • Understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, RTI and statutory payments.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and confidential information.

Experience within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau, workplace pensions/NEST, or an AAT, ACCA or CIPP qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.

We will also consider candidates without formal qualifications who can demonstrate strong, relevant payroll experience.
