Start your career in a growing specialist insurance business
Are you naturally curious, organised and interested in technology, business and problem-solving?
Lumen Specialty is looking for an ambitious Technical Operations & Claims Assistant to join our team in London. This role is ideal for a school leaver, apprentice, or early-career candidate looking to build a long-term career within financial services and the London Insurance Market.
Unlike many entry-level roles, this position offers exposure to a wide range of business activities across operations, claims, technology, finance and insurance broking. You'll work directly with experienced professionals, gain industry-specific knowledge, and play an active role in helping us improve and automate the way we work.
As part of a growing business backed by Tysers, one of the most established insurance brokers in the London Market, you'll receive hands-on training, professional development support and genuine opportunities to progress your career.
What makes this role different?
We're not simply looking for someone to carry out administrative tasks. We're looking for somebody who enjoys learning new things, embraces technology, and wants to become a key part of a modern, growing business.
Artificial Intelligence, automation and data-led processes are becoming increasingly important in professional services. We are particularly interested in candidates who are curious about technology, enjoy finding better ways of doing things, and can demonstrate strong digital skills.
You do not need insurance experience. We can teach that.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
