Role Description

The Junior Bookkeeper role is a full-time, on-site position based in Shaftesbury. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, including posting invoices, processing receipts and payments, and reconciling bank accounts. The Junior Bookkeeper will assist with preparing and reviewing ledgers, supporting the production of management accounts, and ensuring that transactions are recorded in line with company procedures and relevant regulations. Daily responsibilities include working with accounting software, organizing financial documentation, responding to client queries, and supporting senior team members with bookkeeping and administrative tasks. The role requires attention to detail, proactive communication, and a commitment to providing reliable support to small business clients.

  • Foundational bookkeeping skills, including ledger maintenance, invoice processing, and bank reconciliations.
  • Competence with accounting software and spreadsheets, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
  • Good organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Relevant qualification or training in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance (e.g., AAT Level 2/3 or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn, take guidance from senior colleagues, and develop professionally within an accountancy practice.
  • Experience working in an office or professional services environment is an advantage but not essential.
