Job Description: Junior Broadcast Engineer / Assistant Guarantee Engineer

Matchroom Media produces world-class live sports programming for global audiences. Operating from our Bristol facility, our technical teams design, build, and deploy high-specification broadcast systems and flypacks for live stadium, arena, and outside broadcast productions across the UK and internationally.
Role Overview
Matchroom Media is looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on Broadcast Engineer / Assistant Guarantee Engineer to join our Facilities team. This role is tailored for an early-career technical professional with approximately 2 years of experience in a similar broadcast or live production environment. Working alongside Senior Guarantee Engineers, you will support the preparation, testing, rigging, maintenance, and live operational delivery of our broadcast infrastructure both in the warehouse and on live production sites.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Preparation & System Testing
- Assist with configuring, bench-testing, and prepping broadcast flypacks, cable looms, and signal gear prior to deployment.
- Help label, document, and check equipment in/out of the warehouse to ensure all rigs are complete and production-ready.
- Work closely with warehouse and logistics teams to load, pack, and manifest technical kits safely.

On-Site Production & Rigging Support
- Assist Senior Guarantee Engineers during site setups, technical rigs, production days, and derigs for live sports broadcasts.
- Help run, neatly route, and test SDI, fiber optic, network, and power cabling at venues.
- Provide operational and technical support during live events, helping monitor system health and resolving basic faults under senior guidance.
Maintenance & Equipment Care
- Perform routine checks, basic troubleshooting, cleanings, and maintenance on broadcast hardware.
- Assist in logging faulty equipment, coordinating repair returns, and updating inventory records.
- Learn and adhere to Matchroom Media standard engineering workflows and safety protocols.
Technical Experience & Skills
Required Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a similar live television, outside broadcast (OB), or flypack technical role.
Desirable Technical Skills:
- Practical experience or working exposure across the following systems will be highly advantageous:
- Ross Carbonite production systems (highly desirable)
- Blackmagic Design ATEM systems (highly desirable)
- Broadcast routers and signal routing workflows
- SDI signal distribution and core infrastructure
- Video standards, reference, sync, and frame-rate conversion
- Multiviewers and monitoring setups
- Cameras and camera signal chains
- Fibre transmission systems
- Broadcast IP and networking fundamentals
- Communications infrastructure (talkback/comms systems)
- Recording and replay infrastructure
- Basic technical fault-finding across live broadcast systems
