Working Conditions
- This is a Permanent position
- This role is based at our facility in Gunthorpe St, London
- You will be required to spend a considerable amount of time away supporting global events. 70% international travel.
- You must have the ability to work unsociable and extended hours as required to cover sporting events.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Junior Broadcast Event Engineer to join our growing Events team.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate, apprentice, trainee engineer, or someone with up to two years of experience in broadcasting, networking, or live events who is looking to build a career in live sports broadcast transmission. Working alongside experienced Event Engineers, you will gain hands-on exposure to every stage of live event delivery, from equipment preparation and testing through to on-site deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and event support.

This is a unique opportunity to work on premium global sporting events while developing specialist knowledge in broadcast transmission, IP networking, fibre technologies, and remote production workflows.
The role is primarily based in London at 3 Gunthorpe Street, London, E1 7RL, with regular visits to IMG Studios, Stockley Park (Hayes, Uxbridge) for equipment builds and testing. Extensive UK, European, and international travel will be required to support live events worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Event Preparation
- Assist with the staging, configuration, and testing of event equipment.
- Read and interpret network topology, schematic, and engineering drawings.
- Support the creation and maintenance of technical documentation.
- Participate in customer and project planning meetings.
- Liaise with telecommunications suppliers under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Prepare, label, pack, ship, and track equipment for events.
- Maintain accurate inventory records.
On-Site Event Delivery
- Support the installation, rigging, testing, and commissioning of transmission systems.
- Assist with network connectivity, encoding, decoding, and transmission services.
- Monitor event equipment and associated video, audio, and data services.
- Provide first-line technical support to customers and stakeholders on-site.
- Escalate service issues appropriately to senior engineers.
- Maintain accurate operational logs and documentation throughout events.
- Support equipment de-rig and pack-down activities following event completion.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety requirements.

About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- A genuine interest in live television broadcasting, transmission, or networking technologies.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in time-critical live event environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach.
- Ability to follow engineering schematics, diagrams, and technical instructions.
- Experience making and testing Ethernet (RJ45) and coaxial cables.
- Basic understanding of: Video signals (SD-SDI, HD-SDI, UHD) Audio and video routing systems Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 Excel or Google Sheets
- Foundational IP networking knowledge, including: Basic network configuration Troubleshooting network connectivity issues Data and telemetry services
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally without restriction.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Qualification, apprenticeship, or certification in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, Networking, IT, or a related discipline.
- Experience within a broadcast, networking, media, sports, or live events environment.
- Knowledge of fibre transmission technologies.
- Familiarity with MPEG encoding/decoding technologies (AVC, HEVC) and JPEG2000.
- Understanding of IP video transport technologies such as SRT, Zixi, or SMPTE ST 2110.
- Exposure to Net Insight products, including Nimbra platforms.
