Part of LGC Assure, our certification, training and digital solutions support businesses in more than 130 countries to improve food safety, quality and operational excellence.
Role Overview
The Junior Business Analyst will initially focus on the BRCGS Directory, building a good understanding of the platform, its users and the business processes it supports. Working alongside the Senior Business Analyst, Product Owner and software engineering team, you will help turn business needs into clear requirements and development work, support testing and help deliver improvements to the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a good understanding of our Directory platform and how it is used by internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the Senior Business Analyst and Product Owner in understanding business and user needs and translating these into requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Work with developers, QA and Product Owners during delivery, helping to answer questions and identify gaps or issues.
- Help understand existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement and contribute ideas for simpler and more effective ways of working.
- Prepare test scenarios and support user acceptance testing, gather feedback and help confirm that changes meet the agreed requirements.
- Support the product backlog by helping to refine user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
- Help investigate reported issues and understand their potential business impact.
- Support release activities, including documentation, stakeholder communication and basic post-release checks.
- Build positive relationships with users and stakeholders and support interviews, workshops and process reviews.
- Use available data and reports to help understand issues, check assumptions and support decisions.
- Consider accessibility and different user needs when analysing and testing changes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
