Junior Business Analyst

We’re looking for a hands-on Junior Business Analyst to join CMC Markets’ technology team, focusing on pricing and risk applications. Working in an agile environment, you’ll translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, and testable solutions, connecting product, development, quantitative, dealing, and vendor teams from gap analysis through to delivery.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Work with the product, business analysis, and development teams to analyse, collate, and produce business requirements, including gap analysis on a range of project and product initiatives.
  • With a strong emphasis on pricing/risk front office application development, the role will be required to communicate effectively among software developers, quantitative analysts, dealing desks, other stakeholders in the company, and external vendors.
  • In an agile framework, the role will need to capture business requirements, produce software requirement specifications, and scope out testing requirements, which are suitable for iterative developments.
  • Once features are in development, the role will be required to help support the management of the development life cycle. This involves assisting the lead BA on the monitoring of the development team, tracking user story status, and feeding into the project/iteration plans, as required.
  • The role will be responsible for maintaining high-quality documentation on the developed features of a system, which will serve as a basis for risk assessment and for auditing purposes.
  • The role may require the ability to convey to the business and product teams the impact of suggested changes to help determine the impact and delivery timeframes.
  • Support user-training activities and related documentation.
  • Keep the Lead Business Analyst aware of any escalations, issues, and ad-hoc changes as soon as they arise and seek assistance and guidance where necessary so that project risks can be mitigated as early as possible.
  • Provide support to other members of the Business Analysis community and collaborate to achieve the CMC Groups business objectives.
  • Maintain personal/professional development to meet the changing demands of the role, including all relevant regulatory and legislative training.
  • When dealing with all clients or colleagues ensure that we provide a clear, fair, and consistent high-quality service that maintains all CMC group values.
  • Undertake such other duties, training, and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
