Junior Business Analyst
Location: London
Type: Permanent
Working Arrangement: Hybrid working (Central London)
We are working with a growing Software business within the Insurance sector who are looking for a Junior Business Analyst to join their delivery team.
You will work directly alongside a Senior BA and Project Manager, delivering client implementations of their platform. This is not a pure functional spec BA role. It leans technical, and you will take client requirements and help turn them into working, tested solutions yourself, configuring the system, working with SQL and JSON, and testing before anything reaches the client.
The role is client facing from day one, with proper support around you, so you will be learning in front of real clients without being left to sink or swim.
This suits a bright, adaptable early career BA, or a sharp graduate looking for their first role in the area, ideally from a software engineering or mathematical background. How quickly you learn and adapt matters far more here than years of experience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you will be doing:
- Support client workshops to capture requirements, scope and specifications, getting them signed off with support from the Senior BA
- Configure the front end of the platform, including fields, forms and workflows
- Work with SQL, JSON and the data and integrations teams to deliver what the client actually needs
- Test your own work against agreed requirements so issues are caught before the client sees them
- Help prepare and present product demos to clients
- Flag unclear or new requests early rather than building things that weren’t agreed
What we want to see:
- A degree in software engineering, maths or a similar analytical discipline, or equivalent practical experience - insurance or previous BA experience is not essential
- Hands on skill in at least one of Excel/VBA, Python or R, and a genuine appetite to pick up SQL and JSON
- Strong analytical and problem solving ability, with real curiosity about the business problem and not just the feature request
- Excellent written and spoken English, and someone who can be confident and comfortable working alongside a client
- Adaptable, quick to learn and genuinely engaged with the product
