The Opportunity
The company provides configurable insurance software. We are looking for a technically capable, curious Junior Business Analyst who can understand client needs and help turn them into working, well-tested solutions. This is a hands-on implementation role: much of the work involves models, data, software configuration and testing, not just writing requirements.
What Success Looks Like for the Business
- Clear requirements. Understand the business problem behind a request, ask questions, challenge ambiguity and agree what needs to be delivered before configuration begins.
- Efficient implementation. Use standard company configuration wherever practical, suggest simpler solutions and avoid unnecessary bespoke development.
- Quality before client review. Check models, workflows and integrations against agreed requirements; resolve or raise gaps before client testing.
- Reliable client delivery. Own assigned tasks, keep decisions and risks visible, and escalate scope, budget or delivery concerns early.
What You Will Do
- Understand and define. Support discovery workshops, identify the underlying client need, question unnecessary complexity and document requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Configure the platform. Turn agreed requirements into working forms, workflows and portals using GUI tools, JSON, PowerFX and SQL, with guidance where needed.
- Work with models and data. Convert spreadsheet/VBA models into platform-compatible solutions, including Python or SQL where appropriate; support data mapping and API integration.
- Assure functional quality. Trace assigned requirements through configuration, testing, defect resolution and client acceptance; test your own work before handover.
- Support client demonstrations. Help prepare and present product demonstrations, explain configured solutions and respond constructively to feedback.
- Recognise scope changes. Identify unclear or new requests and potential effort or cost implications; suggest alternatives and escalate before undertaking unapproved work.
- Work as part of delivery. Coordinate with Project Management, Development, Testing and client teams; keep actions and documentation up to date.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Useful but not required: exposure to insurance pricing, APIs/Postman, databases, JSON, process mapping, Jira or software testing.
Expectations and Development
This is a junior role with support from senior colleagues. You will own assigned analysis, configuration and testing tasks, but are not expected to lead complex client projects or make commercial decisions independently. You will learn to challenge requirements constructively, recognise scope risks and take increasing responsibility as your skills develop.
First Six Months
- Requirements quality. Produce clear, testable specifications with progressively less avoidable rework; flag ambiguity and scope gaps early.
- Configuration progress. Deliver increasingly complex model or workflow configuration efficiently, using existing capabilities and requiring less supervision.
- Functional quality. Show that assigned changes meet agreed requirements and have been tested before client handover.
- Dependability. Meet commitments, flag blockers and changes early, and communicate confidently with delivery colleagues and clients.
