The Role
We’re recruiting for Junior Business Analysts here at Justice Digital, Data and Science (JDDS) to be part of our warm and collaborative Technology Services team.
This role aligns against Junior Business Analyst from the Government Digital and Data Framework.
This is a great opportunity to join our warm and collaborative multidisciplinary teams and become part of our established business analyst community, with over 140 members across JDDS. You will play an integral role in delivering high quality, user focused solutions, working in a dynamic organisation that is exciting and innovative. A Business Analyst Works Within a Multi-disciplinary Product Or Service Team, Either Independently Or Contributing To Large Scale Transformations. At This Level, You Will:
- Work towards building a good understanding of the Business Analyst role including the tools and techniques used and core services offered.
- Develop a good understanding of your business area.
- Have good interpersonal skills and work with a diverse stakeholder group.

- Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, contributing as part of a team and, where required, working independently on defined pieces of work.
- Support delivery teams working in different ways, including Agile, waterfall or hybrid approaches, and develop an understanding of how different roles work together to deliver outcomes.
- Carry out analysis activities under guidance to help understand how a business area works, including its people, processes, information, data and technology.
- Support senior colleagues to engage with stakeholders to help understand business problems and user needs, building confidence in professional relationships over time.
- Create models and diagrams, such as process maps, to help visualise current ways of working.
- With support, help identify opportunities for improvement, explore possible options and contribute to recommendations that meet business and user needs.
- Assist with defining and documenting requirements, such as user stories, acceptance criteria or other agreed formats, under the guidance of more experienced Business Analysts.
- Take responsibility for developing your business analysis knowledge and skills, learning from practical experience, feedback and formal development opportunities.
- Contribute to the wider Business Analyst community by sharing learning, participating in knowledge-sharing activities and supporting a collaborative and inclusive culture.

Essential
- Experience of Collaborative Working - Experience of working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to build effective relationships and achieve shared outcomes.
- Open to continuous learning - Demonstrable commitment to continuous learning and development, with the ability to apply and share new knowledge and skills.
- Business process improvement - Experience of supporting business process improvement through researching, mapping and documenting processes.
- Understanding different ways of delivering work - An understanding of agile and traditional delivery approaches, including how multidisciplinary teams work together to deliver outcomes.
- Analysing problems and exploring options - The ability to analyse problems, consider options and support evidence-based recommendations that meet business and user needs.
- Good standard of verbal and written communication - Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to a range of audiences.
- Relevant domain experience
The successful candidate should have relevant domain experience in one or more of the following areas and must clearly outline this within their personal statement:
- Information Security
- End Point Security
- Cyber Security
- Security Operations (Technology or digital service focused)
- Networks (such as WAN and or LAN)
- Device, Hardware & User Management
- Connectivity & Access
- Identity Access Management (IDAM)

Salary Information
Base salary for this role is from London: £40,014 to £42,859. National: £35,335 to £37,847.
New entrants to the Civil Service joining the MoJ are expected to start at the minimum of the pay band. Existing Civil Servants moving on a level transfer will retain their current base salary or move to the minimum of the pay band for the role, whichever is higher. Existing Civil Servants who are promoted will either move to the bottom of the new grade’s pay band or receive a 10% uplift, whichever provides the greater increase.
