About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Buyer to join our growing Supply Chain team in Fareham. This is an entry-level procurement role designed for someone looking to develop a successful career in supply chain and purchasing. You'll gain hands-on experience across all aspects of tactical buying while working closely with experienced colleagues who will support your professional development.

The role plays a key part in ensuring materials, components and services are sourced and delivered in line with project requirements, lead times and cost targets. You'll collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Finance and Programme teams while building strong relationships with suppliers to support the successful delivery of our products.

As Junior Buyer, You’ll Be Involved In

  • Raise, track and manage purchase orders in alignment with project schedules.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and continuous improvement.
  • Expedite order acknowledgements and delivery commitments.
  • Monitor material availability, lead times and risks, escalating issues where necessary.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Production to support BOM creation, changes and new product introduction.
  • Support contract and pricing negotiations in line with company cost-reduction targets.
  • Work with Quality teams to resolve supplier NCRs and ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain accurate data in ERP/MRP systems to ensure accurate pricing, lead time and supplier data.
  • Liaise with the Stores / Finance teams, as appropriate, to resolve delivery, shortage or invoice discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline purchasing processes and improve supply chain efficiency.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a procurement, logistics, supply chain or admin role within a manufacturing, aerospace, engineering, defence or technology environment.
  • Understanding of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics, Odoo).
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, BOM structures, and technical specifications.
