Job Description
You will use your passion for footwear and fashion to gain and develop a keen, commercial eye for product. You will be responsible for sourcing, developing and buying a commercial, comprehensive and balanced range within the parameters of the business's margin goals, price architecture and seasonal timing.

- Purchase agreed products/ranges through a reliable and flexible supplier base, ensuring price, quality and fashionability meet requirements and reinforce the brand.
- Develop the best commercial range for the target market, ensuring the range is consistent with our brand and fulfils the needs of the customer, working closely with the design and development team and brief.
- Proactively identify possible areas of commercial risk and recommend, plan and implement appropriate action to minimise impact.
- Work confidently within the brand strategy, objectives and financial targets, using these in buying decisions. Trading in season and using commercial knowledge to drive sales.
- Build strong supplier relationships, understand manufacturing processes fully, and use knowledge of suppliers' strengths and weaknesses to develop product with the right source.
- Identify emerging trends quickly and react accordingly.
- Think imaginatively and generate new ideas to benefit the business.
- Maintain a thorough technical knowledge of footwear.
- Ensure all agreed operating standards are adhered to and that all team members are fully conversant with these standards.
- Develop staff, encouraging them to learn and maximise their potential and achieve high levels of performance; guide and motivate them through their competencies.
- Influence and communicate confidently and effectively to build strong relationships.
- Plan and prioritise across all areas of the role, organising resources effectively, implementing plans, and continuously measuring and reviewing progress.
- Negotiate effectively with others to secure a mutually beneficial outcome, while maintaining the integrity of the brand.

What we are looking for

- Previous experience as an Assistant Buyer or Junior Buyer (preferably in footwear) is essential
- Strong market knowledge
- Track record of delivering strong commercial and profitable ranges
- Proficient in key Microsoft programmes (excel, PowerPoint etc.)
- Ability to identify commercially viable products that support and maintain the integrity of the brand.
- Ability to think imaginatively and generate new ideas to benefit the business; influences and communicates confidently and effectively to build strong relationships.
- Ability to effectively negotiate with others to secure a mutually beneficial outcome, while maintaining the integrity of the brand.
- Ability to learn quickly, identify issues and focus on solutions by being open-minded and thinking laterally, then generating options before making timely and relevant decisions.
- Displays delegation skills, prioritises within delegated tasks and manages deadlines.
- Deputises for the Senior Buyer when needed, for agreed periods.
