Want to build a career behind the camera? Badger & Combes is looking for an emerging Camera Operator and Video Editor to join our team at MediaCity in Salford.
We produce live broadcasts and digital content, working predominantly across sport, as well as arts, culture, entertainment and branded content.
We're particularly interested in finding someone with talent, enthusiasm and a great eye who wants the opportunity to develop.
You don't need a long list of television credits.
You do need to be someone who loves making content, understands the basics of cameras and editing, is interested in live production and wants to become really good at what they do.
What you'll be doing
You'll work alongside our production team on real productions from the beginning.
That could mean:
- Operating cameras on live sports broadcasts
- Shooting interviews, features and behind-the-scenes content
- Editing short and long-form video
- Producing content for social and digital platforms
- Preparing and checking cameras and production equipment
- Working with producers, directors and other camera operators
- Learning live broadcast workflows
- Developing skills in lighting, sound and vision
- Working at venues and events around the UK
- Helping us experiment with new ways of producing and distributing live content

What we're looking for
We're interested in potential as much as experience.
You might be a recent graduate, have come through college, be working freelance, have developed your skills independently or simply be looking for your first significant opportunity in professional production.
We'd like you to have:
- Some experience using professional or prosumer cameras
- Basic knowledge of exposure, focus, composition and frame rates
- Some editing experience, ideally with Adobe Premiere Pro or similar
- A strong visual eye
- An interest in live production
- An interest in sport and/or arts and culture
- Good communication skills
- A willingness to learn
- The ability to work well as part of a crew
- A calm approach when things are happening quickly
A driving licence would be useful but isn't necessarily essential.
Knowledge of things such as Sony cameras, broadcast cameras, SDI, audio, lighting, vision mixing, streaming, graphics or live production systems would be useful, but we don't expect a junior applicant to know everything.

We'll expect a lot from you, but you'll also get the opportunity to learn by actually doing the job alongside experienced people on professional productions.
Working in live production
Live sport and events don't always happen between 9am and 5pm.
The role will therefore include some evening, weekend and occasional travel work. We'll explain how this operates as part of the recruitment process.
