Join our ambitious Gaming team at a pivotal moment in our journey. Gaming is one of the most exciting and fast moving categories in retail, and we're making fantastic progress, challenging conventions and redefining how we show up for customers, brands and the industry.

About the role

This is far more than a traditional Junior Category Manager role. We're looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to challenge the status quo, drive meaningful change and help us continue to evolve how we trade, engage customers and grow our position within the Gaming market.

At The Very Group, you'll have real ownership and the chance to influence key business decisions. You'll shape our strategy, identify new opportunities, drive commercial performance and work closely with some of the biggest brands in the industry. We want someone who is curious, proactive and always looking for ways to do things better.

About you

We're looking for someone who brings commercial credibility, but just as importantly, a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

You will:

  • Have experience in category management, buying or merchandising within a retail environment.
  • Be commercially minded, highly analytical and comfortable turning insight into action.
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments and embrace change as an opportunity.
  • Have the confidence to challenge thinking, bring fresh ideas and influence stakeholders.
  • Be passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences and driving business growth.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and an ability to bring people on the journey.
  • Have a genuine interest in Gaming, technology or digital entertainment, with a curiosity for where the industry is going next.

You can expect a two-stage interview process for this position:

  1. 1st stage - An informal 30-minute video call with the hiring team to discuss your skills and relevant experience. This is a great opportunity to find out more about the role and to ask any questions you may have.
  2. 2nd Stage - A one-hour formal interview where you can expect both competency and technical questions. This can be held either in-person or remotely.
