Job Description
About the Role
The successful candidate will contribute to data-driven decision-making by supporting data validation, database maintenance, applied research, product development, and multi-stakeholder communications. A solid grounding in agronomy or natural sciences is essential; expertise in carbon footprint analysis — including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions across agricultural value chains — is a strong asset. This role offers the opportunity to grow expertise in insetting, increasing farm adaptation to climate change events and developing products that will support climate mitigation and adaptation for our industry.
This position may be based in any country where ECOM Group has an office presence, including Switzerland, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, or the Netherlands. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Applicants must already hold a valid work permit authorising them to work in one of these countries.

Data Validation & Quality Assurance
- Collect, clean, and validate farm datasets from internal sources
- Identify and flag data inconsistencies, gaps, and anomalies; implement corrective procedures with guidelines from the insetting specialist.
- Update environmental and sustainability metrics — including greenhouse gas (GHG) emission factors — against recognised reference databases (e.g. ecoinvent, IPCC).
- Maintain quality standards in line with relevant ISO and GHG Protocol frameworks.
- Support in the process of calculating the corporate carbon footprint and data quality review.
- Update and maintain commodity-level environmental databases (carbon intensity, water footprint, land use) for key agricultural supply chains.
- Document data sources, methodology assumptions, and version histories to ensure full traceability and reproducibility.
- Support the integration of new data streams and the migration of legacy datasets into modern data infrastructure.
- Conduct literature reviews and landscape analyses on climate-related regulations, carbon markets, sustainability standards and trends (e.g. EU Farm to Fork, EUDR, SBTi, ISO 14064), and agro-food sector trends.
- Perform research and support in the development of a climate resilience score and its integration into ECOM's commodity carbon calculator Green Meter.
- Contribute to the design and continuous improvement of climate and nature scoring tools, carbon labelling frameworks, and supplier assessment methodologies.
- Support in the supervision of the development of a platform to automatically produce carbon footprint reports and recommendations per country
- Provide climate data to client-facing tools and dashboards.
- Draft methodological notes, technical annexes, and supporting documentation for new sustainability products and services.
- Participate in pilot testing and validation of new analytical models with internal stakeholders and selected clients.

Communications & Stakeholder Engagement
- Help translate complex agronomic and climate science concepts into accessible content for non-specialist audiences.
- Create and deliver content for internal and external newsletters, along with internal learning and engagement channels.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Sciences, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Climate Studies, or a closely related field.

Technical Knowledge
- Solid understanding of agronomy and agricultural production systems (crop physiology, soil science, farming practices).
- Familiarity with GHG accounting principles and carbon footprint methodologies (GHG Protocol, ISO 14064/14067, PAS 2050).
- Proficiency in data management and analysis tools (Excel, Power BI) is required; experience with Python, R, or SQL is a plus.
- Basic Knowledge of food and agricultural supply chains and associated sustainability challenges.
Languages
- Full professional proficiency in English, French, and Spanish — written and spoken — is mandatory.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.

- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
- Clear, concise written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with carbon footprint analysis, scientific climate research, and the development of tools
- Familiarity with sustainability standards (Rainforest Alliance, EU regulations, ISO 14064)
- Knowledge of remote sensing tools, geospatial analysis (QGIS, ArcGIS), or crop monitoring platforms.
