Role Title: Junior Commercial Paralegal / Contracts Administrator
Location: Remote (with occasional access to our London and Grays, Essex offices)

About the Role
Birkin is seeking a sharp, analytical law graduate to join our team as a Junior Commercial Paralegal / Contracts Administrator.
This role sits at the intersection of commercial contract law and practical operations. Your primary focus will be reviewing client and supplier contracts, verifying calculations for rate adjustments, and resolving internal contractual queries. You will play a vital role in ensuring that all contract variations are accurate, financially checked, and perfectly prepared for final business sign-off.
This is an internally focused, back-office role initially, providing a supportive environment to build deep technical expertise in commercial contract mechanics, risk review, and operational compliance before stepping into client-facing work.

- Contract Review & Triage: Conduct first-pass reviews of client and supplier contracts, standard terms, and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to identify key obligations, notices, and commercial terms.
- Calculation Verification & Admin: Practically review contract adjustments, for annual uplifts align perfectly with the original contract terms.
- Preparation for Final Sign-Off: Pull together finalised contract variation packets, variation letters, and accompanying data summaries to present to senior management for final executive sign-off.
- Contractual Advisory & Queries: Act as the internal point of contact for operational and business teams, answering everyday questions regarding contract durations, obligations, and notice periods.
- Contract Ledger Management: Maintain the company’s central contract repository, ensuring a flawless audit trail of all signed variations, fully executed agreements, and associated rate calculations.

- Education: A university degree in Law (LLB), Business Law, or a completed GDL / PGDL conversion.
- Strong Numeracy & Excel Literacy: Comfortable using spreadsheets to cross-reference and verify financial data and rate calculations against contract clauses.
- Analytical Mindset: The ability to read dense legal text, spot anomalies, and summarise key contract parameters clearly.
- High Attention to Detail: Meticulous accuracy when drafting variation documents, cross-referencing figures, and preparing paperwork for final approval.
- Proximity: Ability to travel occasionally to our London and Grays (Essex) offices for team collaboration and operational review days.
