About the role
You will support PAG's team on live projects for local authorities, academy trusts, schools and private-sector clients. Most of our work involves children and families: childcare sufficiency assessments, funding bids for special educational needs and disability (SEND) provision, and reviews of provision and funding for pupils with education, health and care plans. You will be involved in real client work and see how a small consultancy runs. This is a 140 hour apprenticeship across 7 weeks - 2.5 days per week.
What you will be involved in
- Researching policy, legislation and published data, such as Department for Education statistics, council reports and Ofsted findings, and summarising your findings clearly.
- Cleaning, analysing and charting data, including survey results and childcare and school place data.
- Helping design surveys and consultation materials for parents, providers and employers, and tracking who has responded.
- Drafting sections of client reports, briefings and bid documents for consultants to review.
- Checking reports for accuracy, consistency and plain English before they go to clients.
- Researching new opportunities and public-sector tenders, and helping put together bid material.
- Taking notes in client and team meetings, and following up on actions.
- Helping with day-to-day operations such as organising files in SharePoint, keeping project trackers up to date and supporting simple finance tasks.
- Working out how to help the exceptional people we work with, and for, achieve their aims.

What we are looking for
Essential
- Curiosity, enthusiasm, a sense of wonder.
- Being both interested and interesting.
- You are a current student or recent graduate from any discipline.
- You are comfortable with speaking, numbers or words (ideally all three).
- You can manage your own time and meet deadlines while working remotely.
- You have an opinion on public services, education or social policy. Other opinions are also welcome.
- You ask questions when something is unclear. You shout if you are struggling.
- Working experience of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Google is acceptable as long as you don’t mention it.
- Ability to use your, you’re, yaw and yore correctly.
Desirable
- Experience with research methods, surveys or data analysis.
- Interest in consultancy, local government, education or SEND.
- Experience with, and an affinity for, using AI as a servant, not a master.
- Experience with wider Microsoft 365 products, including Teams, SharePoint, Power BI and Dynamics.
- Experience of using cool stuff that we don’t know about.
