A Different Kind of Opportunity
Project Inc. is a new creative talent platform built for people who are brilliant but haven't had their proper break yet. We place emerging designers with purpose-driven organisations — charities, social enterprises, and businesses doing good — and we back them with agency-level oversight and mentorship throughout.
This is a pilot and we want you to help shape it.
We're building something new and we want our first placed designer to be part of that story. Our client already knows this is PI's first venture and they're excited about it. We're looking for someone who's not just here to do the work (though the work matters enormously) but who can feed back honestly on what it's like to be an emerging creative trying to get a foothold in the industry. Your experience will help us build something better for every designer who comes after you.

The Role
You'll be our first placed designer, working across a varied mix of creative and design briefs for a purpose-driven client. Think print, digital, social, campaigns, publications, environmental graphics and everything in between. No two months will look the same.
The arrangement is freelance which will be 20-24 hours per month (tbc on client finalising), running from August 2026 through to January 2027 (six months).
You'll be paid £20 per hour and you will invoice us monthly through Project Inc.
You won't be left to figure it out alone, as every brief comes through us, your work is reviewed by our Creative Director who you can collaborate with before it reaches the client, and you'll have direct access to support throughout the six months.
What We're Looking For
We're hiring for talent, attitude, and availability over experience.
You might be fresh out of college or university. You might be dipping your toe into freelancing already and looking for guidance. You may be working in hospitality knowing that creative is your bag or you may be unemployed and desperately searching. Whatever your situation, if your portfolio is strong, you’re keen to get into the creative sphere and you're available for the hours and able to get started pretty quickly, we want to hear from you.

What Matters to Us
- A portfolio that shows us you can think as well as execute. We want to see work you're proud of whether that’s personal projects, uni work, live briefs, self-initiated pieces, anything that demonstrates your eye, your craft, and your range. What we really care about though is the thinking, the why and the understanding of brief and problem and translation into creativity.
- Solid working knowledge of Adobe Creative suite - InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop as a minimum. You'll need your own licensed software and a reliable laptop. This is a freelance arrangement so your equipment is your responsibility but if you're unsure what you need, just ask and we'll point you in the right direction.
- Good communication - Ask the questions, we don’t expect you to know it all. You'll be liaising with us and with clients so good comms is key.
- Availability - This starts fairly imminently (around 7 August) and we need someone who can hit the ground running as we already have a print deadline end of August for the first piece of work. We also will need you to be available for biweekly or monthly client catch ups within normal working office hrs. As we say, this will be around 20-24hrs per month, so it can fit around other commitments, especially part-time jobs but please do consider your own timetables, shifts, rotas and other employers needs first - this isn’t really a moonlighting sitch, it’s a flexible commitment, during office hrs, for 6 months to support an external client and their design needs.

Working with Us
This is a freelance arrangement - you'll invoice us monthly at the agreed hrs and stipulated hourly rate and handle your own tax and NI.
You're welcome to work from anywhere. However, our studio in Nottingham City Centre is available to you and we'd actively encourage it, especially if you're early on in your career as there's no better way to understand how an agency works than being in one, watching and collaborating.
At the end of your time with us, you’ll be able to use the work created within your portfolio and have a written reference from both us and the client - whilst actually being paid.

Applications close Wednesday 5 August. We're hoping to have someone in place and briefed on the first piece of work by 8 August, so don't sit on it.
We'll review portfolios on a rolling basis and invite a small number of people to a short informal interview before making our decision.
