Job Title
A fast-growing financial services firm, recognised for its innovative solutions in payroll and HR, is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join its dynamic ICT department. This organisation fosters a culture of continuous learning and professional development, offering a structured path into a rewarding cyber security career.
The Role
- Work closely with the InfoSec team to build a working knowledge of security operations, protective monitoring, and incident handling.
- Learn to analyse security alerts and incidents within a modern, cloud-first security stack, including Palo Alto Cortex XSIAM and XSOAR, Cortex XDR, and Microsoft Purview.
- Support daily security operations, managing assigned tickets and requests through Halo ITSM, to ensure risks are identified and resolved.
- Assist in security investigations and incident response, learning how to respond to events like malware, data loss, and phishing.
- Contribute to developing effective controls to detect, prevent, and mitigate cyber-attacks across a global estate.
- Actively participate in team projects and meetings, providing regular status updates and supporting documentation preparation.

What You'll Need
- A genuine passion for data and cyber security with a strong appetite for problem-solving.
- An understanding of cyber-attack techniques, tools, and mitigation controls.
- Awareness of up-to-date security threats, common exploits, and threat vectors across various platforms.
- Familiarity with SIEM concepts (e.g., Cortex XSIAM, Microsoft Sentinel) and cloud services (Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, AWS).
- A degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Computer Forensics, or equivalent experience/demonstrable interest in cyber security.
- Holding or actively working towards an entry-level certification (e.g., ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity, CompTIA Security+, Blue Team Level 1) is desirable.
