How You Will Energise Our Team 🤝
Valda Energy is investing in a modern data platform built on Microsoft Fabric, transforming how data is integrated, managed and used across the business. We’re looking for a Junior Data Engineer to join our growing Business Intelligence team and help build scalable data solutions that support reporting, analytics and automation.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong technical foundation and a passion for data engineering and software development. You may have experience from a junior commercial role, placement, internship or academic projects, or be a recent graduate ready to take the next step. Working alongside experienced data engineers, you’ll develop data pipelines, integrate data from multiple systems and build your expertise in modern cloud technologies and data platforms. Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure or the wider Microsoft data ecosystem is beneficial but not essential — we’ll provide support and mentoring as you grow.
The day-to-day responsibilities will include:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
