Junior Data Engineer – Databricks / Azure
Location: Milton Keynes - Hybrid
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and technically minded Junior Data Engineer to join a data engineering team working on a large-scale Databricks migration programme.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their data engineering career to gain hands-on experience working with Azure, Databricks, PySpark, and SQL within a structured Agile delivery environment.
You will work as part of an established engineering team, contributing to the delivery of a significant data transformation programme. As the programme progresses towards a major delivery milestone in January, the complexity and scale of the work will increase, providing an opportunity to develop your technical capabilities and take on greater responsibility.
You will also have access to experienced Databricks engineers within the team, providing support and guidance as you build your knowledge of the platform.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Exposure to Python and/or PySpark.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
- Some exposure to Databricks, although this is not essential.
- An understanding of cloud-based data environments.
