Junior Data Engineer

£27,500 + up to 20% bonus
South Manchester / Wilmslow | Permanent

Mirai are delighted to bring this opportunity to the market. There isn’t an abundance of brilliant graduate opportunities out there at the moment, particularly ones where you’ll be given real responsibility, proper investment and the chance to learn from seriously smart people.

We’re partnering with a brilliant data organisation in South Manchester that works with businesses to build modern data platforms from the ground up. You’ll join a small, highly experienced team and work on live client projects from week one, learning directly from experienced Data Engineers, Architects and C-Suite.

Where could it take you?

This is much more than simply getting your first Data Engineering job. As you develop, there are various pathways you could explore across Data Engineering, Analytics, Data Architecture and AI, depending on where your strengths and interests take you.

You’ll start by building your foundations in SQL and Python, before gaining exposure to technologies and concepts including Databricks, cloud platforms, Spark, Git, dbt, data modelling and ETL. You absolutely do not need to know all of these already. In fact, we’re deliberately keeping the search broad.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The opportunity

Your development will be fast. The expectation is that you'll have contributed work to a live client platform within your first three months, be working more independently by six months and have ownership of a meaningful part of a client build by the end of year one.

There’s also significant investment in development, including funded training and Databricks certification, with progression shaped around the individual rather than a rigid career ladder.
