Junior Data Engineer
Location: UK
Salary: £50,000 + Benefits
I’m partnering with a highly technical organisation that builds secure, mission-critical data platforms, and they’re now looking to add a Junior Data Engineer to their Data & Ontology team.
This role is well suited to someone with 1–2 years’ experience who wants to step into a more complex data environment and start working with modern data pipelines, knowledge graphs and semantic technologies, while being supported by experienced engineers.
The Role
This is more than a traditional ETL position. The successful candidate will be involved in designing and supporting data pipelines that feed intelligent, policy-driven data platforms used across government and enterprise environments.

You’ll be exposed to:
- Scalable data ingestion and enrichment pipelines
- Entity resolution and data fusion challenges
- Real-time and event-driven data architectures
- Knowledge graphs and semantic data models
What My Client Is Looking For
Essential:
- 1–2 years’ experience in a data engineering or closely related role
- Strong fundamentals in Python and SQL
- Experience working with data pipelines and structured data
- Working knowledge of Git/GitHub
- A curious, problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn
Nice to Have (Not Essential):
- Exposure to RDF, SPARQL, ontologies or semantic technologies
- Experience with graph databases or knowledge graphs
- Familiarity with streaming or event-driven architectures (e.g. Kafka)
- Interest in using ML/AI techniques for data ingest or enrichment

Security Clearance
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be UK SC eligible. Holding clearance already is advantageous but not required.
