We are working closely with a leading fashion supplier and are looking to recruit a talented Assistant / Junior Childrenswear Designer to join their growing design team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious designer to develop their career within a fast-paced, commercial fashion environment, working across a broad range of childrenswear categories.

Based in Manchester, you will support the design team across girls' and boys' apparel, covering baby, toddler, younger and older age ranges. You will have the opportunity to work across woven, jersey and leisurewear, developing trend-led and commercial product for leading customers.

  • Supporting the wider design team in developing trend-led and commercially focused childrenswear collections
  • Creating and developing CADs, colourways, artwork and design concepts across girls' and boys' product
  • Working across woven, jersey and leisurewear categories
  • Keeping up to date with childrenswear trends, colours, fabrics, prints and key commercial directions
  • Supporting the development of product across baby, toddler, younger and older age ranges
  • Preparing presentations and product information for customer meetings
  • Liaising with internal teams, suppliers and factories throughout the development process
  • Supporting the team with samples, amendments and product development from initial concept through to final production

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience within a childrenswear design role, ideally at Assistant or Junior Designer level
  • A genuine passion for childrenswear fashion and an interest in current trends and emerging product
  • Good knowledge of childrenswear across baby, toddler, younger and older age ranges
  • Strong CAD skills and good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Creative, commercially aware and able to translate trends into relevant product ideas
  • Organised and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • A proactive, enthusiastic and collaborative approach
