Junior Designer

London (hybrid) · Full-time · £28,000–£32,000 depending on experience · Reports to the Brand Lead

The short version

Finimize helps millions of people get smarter about money – through our app, newsletters, events, and the content we make with some of the biggest names in finance. We're looking for a Junior Designer to help make all of that look as good as it sounds.

You'll sit in the brand team, working directly with the Brand Lead, and you'll touch pretty much everything with a Finimize logo on it: social, email, the website, event, partnership decks, and the charts and graphics that turn a confusing market story into something you'd actually want to share.

This is a proper junior role. We don't expect you to have done all of it before. We do expect you to have a good eye, a portfolio that shows it, and the appetite to get stuck in.

Key responsibilities

A 360° approach to the Finimize brand. You'll work across our whole design and brand suite – the consumer brand and Pro product, the B2B brand and our events – delivering creative in whatever discipline the brief calls for: social, motion, email, web, print, decks, etc. One day it's the daily newsletter images, the next it's a new web page or a stage backdrop. You'll learn how each part of the business speaks, remains in harmony with the rest of the eco-system and how to keep it all unmistakably Finimize.

Protect the tone, grow the brand. Finimize has a voice people recognise – clear, warm, a bit wry, never patronising – and part of your job is to keep that intact across everything we make: tidy design system, current templates, consistent output, and flagging when something's drifting. But we're not a finished brand, and we don't want to be. There's real room to push our visual language in new directions across all parts of the business, and we'll want your ideas on where it should go next. Think of yourself as brand guardian and brand explorer in equal measure.

What does that look like practically?

  • Graphic design and illustration. Original artwork, illustration and layouts across everything we publish, made to grab attention in a crowded feed and hold up as craft.
  • Social-first design. Stills, carousels and short-form motion for Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube – designed for their native feeds, respectively (not adapted as an afterthought).
  • Email and CRM. Templates and campaign assets for our newsletters and lifecycle emails (we use HubSpot), designed to look sharp in an inbox and hold up on a phone.
  • Web. Landing pages, banners and page assets for finimize.com, built in Figma and shipped in Webflow. You'll learn and help to manage the site, not just hand over files.
  • Partnerships and events. Pitch decks, one-pagers and campaign assets for Finimize for Business, plus branding for the Modern Investor Summit and our quarterly Modern Investor Pulse report.
  • Brand guardianship. Keep our design system tidy, our templates current and our output consistent – and flag it when something's drifting off-brand.
  • Motion basics. Simple animation in After Effects or Lottie: animated charts, kinetic type, social stings. If you can already do this, brilliant. If not, you'll learn it here.
  • Working with AI. Use generative and AI-assisted tools to explore ideas faster, produce more versions and cut the grunt work – while keeping the taste, judgement and brand consistency firmly human.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for

Must-haves

  • A portfolio that shows strong fundamentals: typography, hierarchy, layout, colour, and an instinct for what makes something look considered.
  • Confident in Figma (this is where we live) and comfortable across Adobe Creative Cloud – Illustrator, Photoshop, and a working knowledge of After Effects/Premiere Pro is a bonus.
  • Some experience designing for social and digital channels – an internship, a placement, freelance work or a personal project that's clearly gone out into the world all count.
  • Attention to detail that borders on the annoying. You notice the misaligned pixel and the double space.
  • Good with feedback: you take it well, ask why, and come back with something better.
  • Curious about money and markets – or at least willing to become so. You don't need to know what a yield curve is on day one, but you'll need to want to find out.

Nice-to-haves

  • Motion or video editing skills (After Effects, Premiere, Lottie).
  • Experience with Webflow, HubSpot or similar no-code and CRM tools.
  • Illustration or icon design.
  • Experience or an interest in how charts communicate and how data is visualised.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools in a design workflow (Claude, Midjourney, Firefly, Runway, or whatever you've found useful) and a view on where they help and where they don't.
  • Any exposure to fintech, media, wellness, or a subscription business.

You don't need a degree, and you don't need to tick every box. If you're a strong junior with a great portfolio and a genuine interest in what we do, we'd like to hear from you.

What you'll get

  • Salary: £28,000-£32,000, depending on experience, and a generous equity package.
  • 33 days annual holiday (25 days plus UK bank holidays).
  • Hybrid working from our London office, with real flexibility around when and how you work.
  • A learning budget for courses, books, tools or conferences, plus direct mentorship from the Brand Lead – this is a role built to grow you.
  • Breadth. In a year you'll have a portfolio of work designed across social, web, email, print, motion, events and more.
  • Full perks package - virtual GP, gym and retail discounts, salary sacrifice schemes for vehicles, bikes, childcare, elderly care, and more.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave.
  • A team that takes the work seriously and itself less so.

How we hire

We'll keep it quick and won't waste your time.

  • Portfolio review – we look at your work first, before anything else.
  • Intro call (30 min) – with the Brand Lead. Mostly about you, your work, and what you're looking for.
  • Short design task – a small, realistic brief (a few hours, not a weekend).
  • Final conversation (45 min) – walk us through your task, meet a couple of the team, ask us anything.

We aim to get from application to offer in three weeks.

How to apply

Send a portfolio link (a site, a PDF, a Behance page – whatever shows your work best), your CV, and a few lines on why this role. We’re happy to see how passionate you are about design through your work - there’s no requirement for a cover letter.

Finimize Mantras

🐶 Eat your own dog food

When you build something, ask yourself if you’d use it. When you write something, ask if you’d read it. When you design something, ask yourself if you’d understand it. If the answer’s anything other than a resounding yes, you need to keep at it until you convince yourself. You should be your own biggest critic.

😎 See something, say something, do something

We hire problem-solvers: if we see something that’s not working, we don’t hang about till someone gives us permission to solve it. We just solve it. And sure, we use data to help us spot opportunities to improve, but our hunches are just as – if not more – important. It’s our gut instincts that sets us apart from the competition, after all.

😘 Keep it simple

Our digestible, jargon-free insights are what’s made Finimize such a success. So why wouldn’t we live up to our own standards? Finimize has been
