Role Description
The Junior Desktop Support Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. This role is responsible for providing first-line technical support for desktop computers and peripherals, including installing, configuring, and maintaining workstations for team members. Daily activities include diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, supporting printers and other office equipment, and escalating complex problems to senior engineers when necessary. The Junior Desktop Support Engineer will also assist with user account setup, routine maintenance, and basic network connectivity checks, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. Collaboration with internal teams and clear, timely communication with users are essential to delivering dependable IT support.

Qualifications

- Ability to support and maintain desktop computers, including operating system installation and user setup.
- Technical support skills covering end-user assistance, ticket handling, and issue resolution.
- Experience with printer support and peripheral device configuration in an office environment.
- Strong troubleshooting capabilities for computer hardware and basic software issues.
- Foundational understanding of computer hardware components and their interactions.
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach to supporting colleagues.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, follow documented procedures, and work effectively on-site as part of a team.
- Relevant IT certification or coursework (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365 or Windows fundamentals) is beneficial.
- Prior experience in a helpdesk, service desk, or junior IT support role is an advantage.
