DestinationCore builds digital products and websites for destination marketing and tourism organisations across the UK and US - helping places promote themselves, support local businesses and improve visitor experiences online.

We're offering a 6-month fixed-term contract for a junior developer looking to break into the industry. This is a genuine opportunity to get real, live-project experience on your CV - working alongside a specialist team on actual client websites, not just training exercises.

What you'll be working on

  • Website updates and improvements
  • Front-end development with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Support tickets and bug fixes
  • QA, browser and accessibility checks
  • Template and component updates
  • Support for new builds and platform improvements

What we're looking for

  • HTML, CSS and JavaScript fundamentals
  • Some CMS experience
  • Interest in responsive front-end development
  • Basic Git or version control
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Comfort investigating problems
  • Clear communication and organisation
  • Interest in accessibility and performance

Nice to have

  • Craft CMS or Twig experience
  • Sass, Tailwind, Vue or React
  • Project tools: Monday.com, Jira or Teamwork
  • Slack or similar communication tools
  • Digital agency or web team background
  • Interest in tourism or destination marketing

The details

  • Contract: 6 months, fixed-term
  • Location: Hybrid - Tuesday & Wednesday in our Ipswich office, remote the rest of the week. Candidates in or around Ipswich, Suffolk or East of England preferred.
  • Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours/week (4-day week also an option)
  • Team rhythm: Daily 9am stand-up; monthly all-team day in Ipswich
  • Salary: £11,943 (pro rata for 6 months, equivalent to £23,888/year FTE) - National Living Wage rate
