Junior Developer

Nottingham | Office-based with up to 2 days remote working after probation

Responsibilities

  • Support existing developers with data integration, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation
  • Develop new features for a cloud-based data processing platform
  • Write clean, maintainable Python code for serverless AWS applications
  • Contribute to API development using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications
  • Build and improve user-facing applications using React and modern JavaScript technologies
  • Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and deployment activities
  • Maintain code quality standards, testing practices, and documentation
  • Collaborate on technical design discussions, reviews, and knowledge-sharing activities

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong Python skills or a solid foundation in another object-oriented programming language
  • Previous software development experience through an internship, placement year, graduate role, or similar
  • Basic understanding of AWS services and cloud computing concepts
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD principles
  • Understanding of REST APIs and web service architectures
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to learning

Desirable Experience

  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as Lambda or EC2
  • Exposure to React or other modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Knowledge of ETL or data processing concepts
  • Familiarity with Terraform, infrastructure-as-code, or AI-assisted development tools

This Junior Developer position is based in Nottingham, offering an office-based working pattern with up to 2 days remote working after probation.
