Job Title: Junior Developer
About the Role
The Clinical School Computing Service (CSCS) is looking for a Junior Developer to work in our Development Team. This team provides web application and development services for the School and departments and Institutions within the School. The solutions developed by this team underpin strategic School functions such as the new unified School website.
The role holder will primarily work on two projects: the development of the new School VLE, and the development of the new School website. In both instances the post holder will assist the senior developers, content designers and users through activities such as requirements gathering, solution research, software design, software development, software configuration, testing, documentation, user engagement, training and support.
The post holder will be supported by the team to develop a broad range of skills relevant to working as a developer and will also be expected to problem-solve independently to some extent, escalating to technical specialists when required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
