Junior Development Chemist

Are you passionate about creating innovative cosmetic products and eager to develop your career in research and development? We're looking for a Junior Development Chemist to join our growing R&D team, where you'll play a key role in bringing exciting skincare, haircare and personal care products to life.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to work on products from initial concept through to commercial launch. You'll collaborate with experienced colleagues across R&D, Sales, Quality Control and Operations while developing your technical knowledge and making a real impact.

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science or a related scientific discipline
  • A genuine passion for cosmetic formulation and product development
  • Proactive with the confidence to take initiative and manage multiple projects
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different teams
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to laboratory work
  • Knowledge of cosmetic regulations and compliance is beneficial but not essential

Job Role

As a Junior Development Chemist, you will:

  • Formulate high-quality and innovative skincare, haircare, and personal care products to meet customer and in-house briefs
  • Liaise with the Sales Team to deliver suitable proposals within fast-paced timelines
  • Collaborate with the R&D and QC team to ensure ingredient and regulatory alignment.
  • Responsible for Development CPSR submissions and queries
  • Follow industry trends on ingredients and new product launches
  • Work closely with suppliers to secure raw materials, technical support, and pricing
  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure a smooth customer journey and provide proactive technical support
  • Build strong relationships with the technical and operations teams, supporting scale-up, lab trials, and development
  • Develop and maintain best practices in the lab, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement
  • Participate in private label formulation projects, contributing to the in-house product library and fast market launches
  • Assist with the preparation and testing of product samples for prospective customers
  • Run multiple New Product Development (NPD) projects from concept to launch

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm

Salary

  • £30,000-£34,000 depending on experience
