The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior DevOps Engineer to join our growing API Marketplace engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who is passionate about cloud technology, automation, platform engineering, and continuous delivery. You'll gain hands-on experience working with modern cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, container technologies, monitoring solutions, and API platforms while being mentored by experienced platform and DevOps engineers.
You will contribute to the operational excellence and continuous improvement of our strategic API Marketplace platform while building skills that will accelerate your career in cloud and platform engineering.
What You'll Be Doing
Cloud Infrastructure Support
- Assist with the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Support infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Help manage development, test, and production environments.
CI/CD & Release Automation
- Support the creation, enhancement, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.
- Assist development teams in automating build, testing, deployment, and release activities.
- Help identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation.
Platform Engineering
- Contribute to the operation and enhancement of the API Marketplace platform.
- Support platform upgrades, configuration changes, and service onboarding activities.
- Assist in delivering self-service capabilities that improve developer experience.
Infrastructure as Code
- Learn and apply Infrastructure as Code practices using tools such as Terraform.
- Support automated provisioning and configuration management activities.
- Assist in maintaining reusable infrastructure modules and deployment templates.

Container & Kubernetes Operations
- Support containerised workloads running on Kubernetes platforms.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues relating to container deployments.
- Learn cloud-native deployment and operational best practices.
Monitoring & Observability
- Support platform monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
- Assist in analysing application and infrastructure performance metrics.
- Help investigate incidents and identify root causes under the guidance of senior engineers.
Operational Support
- Participate in operational support activities including incident management and problem resolution.
- Assist in maintaining platform availability, performance, and reliability.
- Support regular maintenance and operational improvement initiatives.
Security & Compliance
- Apply security-first engineering principles in daily activities.
- Assist in implementing secure infrastructure configurations and access controls.
- Help ensure compliance with organisational security and governance requirements.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
- Document standard operating procedures and platform configurations.
- Share knowledge and learning outcomes with team members.
Continuous Learning
- Actively develop knowledge of cloud engineering, DevOps tooling, automation, and platform engineering practices.
- Pursue relevant technical certifications and learning opportunities.
- Stay up to date with evolving industry trends and technologies.
What You'll Need
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- Foundational understanding of cloud computing concepts.
- Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
- Familiarity with Git and version control practices.
- Experience with scripting using Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and software delivery lifecycles.
- Awareness of CI/CD concepts and automation benefits.
- Basic understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and TCP/IP.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within agile engineering teams.
- Passion for learning and continuous improvement.

Desirable Skills
- Experience or exposure to any of the following would be advantageous:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Terraform or Infrastructure as Code tooling
- Docker containerization
- Kubernetes
- GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Harness
- Cloud Monitoring and Observability tools
- REST APIs and API Lifecycle concepts
- API Gateway technologies such as Apigee
- Cloud Security and IAM concepts
- Agile and DevOps delivery methodologies

Within your first 12 months you will:
- Contribute to the successful operation of the API Marketplace platform.
- Support cloud infrastructure deployments and automation initiatives.
- Help improve deployment efficiency through CI/CD enhancements.
- Assist in reducing operational toil through automation and self-service capabilities.
- Contribute to platform stability, resilience, and security improvements.
- Build expertise across GCP, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and modern DevOps tooling.
- Become a trusted contributor within a high-performing engineering team.
