The Role
Sifted is Europe's most-read publication for the startup economy - read by founders, investors and operators building the continent's next generation of companies.
We're looking for an ambitious junior front-end developer to join the team and grow with us and expand the Sifted offering. You'll be working closely with our small but highly experienced team to ensure our readers have the best possible experience.
What you'll do
- Work closely with our design and product teams to build and maintain a component library.
- Extend our CMS integrations to allow our non-technical team to build content freely.
- Help build out our subscriptions/paywall management platform, Zephr.
- Pair with senior engineers to plan features and align on best practices.

What you'll need
- A solid grip on HTML, CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript and Next.js.
- An understanding of Git and basic front-end best practices.
- Hands-on development experience from either work, studies, or personal projects that you are comfortable discussing through in detail.
- The instinct for when to ask for help. Our codebase has history, and being careful is an essential requirement.
- A strong desire to learn and grow. We are a company built around ambitious people who want to make an impact.
Bonus Points
- Knowledge or experience with common best practices such as code reviews, automated testing, documentation.
- A genuine interest in the European startup ecosystem, media or publishing - you'll sit close to what we cover, even if you're not writing it.
