Role: Junior Graphic Designer

Experience: Around 1 Year's Experience or a Relevant Placement/Internship
Salary: £26,000
Hours: 8.30am – 17.00pm (Monday to Friday)
Reports to: B2B Marketing Manager

About the Design Studio

At TIMCO, we provide over 8,500 essential products as well as industry-leading solutions to the construction and industrial sectors.
Our commitment to quality and innovation is reflected in our dedicated In-House Design Studio
The studio is responsible for defining, visualising and developing TIMCO branded collateral
These assets include the creation of all printed and digital elements as well as meeting all requirements for product packaging, merchandising, marketing, events, corporate elements and photography

Job Summary

As a Junior Graphic Designer, you will be a keen and enthusiastic contributor within the In-House Design Studio, working across a broad range of creative projects and developing your skills across packaging, print and digital design
This role requires design and artworking skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple briefs across print and digital channels
You will work closely with, and receive guidance from, the Senior Graphic Designer, the B2B Marketing Manager and wider marketing and business teams as you build your skills and deliver high-quality, on-brand creative

Main Responsibilities

  • To produce creative and design that is fit for purpose and aligned with TIMCO brand guidelines
  • To prepare artwork correctly for its intended use, including print production, digital output, advertising, web and email
  • To manage and maintain files, assets and working documents in a clear and logical manner to ensure accessibility across the studio and wider business
  • To work efficiently across multiple projects while meeting deadlines and quality expectations

Job Purpose

  • To take ownership of assigned design briefs, with support and guidance from senior designers, from concept through to final artwork
  • To work closely with the Senior Graphic Designer and B2B Marketing Manager to interpret briefs and deliver creative solutions
  • To respond positively to feedback and make amendments accurately and efficiently
  • To collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers when required
  • To support the wider studio with general design and artworking tasks as needed

Junior Graphic Designer Responsibilities Include

  • Packaging artwork, labels and supporting documentation for new and existing products and ranges
  • Product-specific literature including catalogues, brochures, specialist guides, leaflets and price lists
  • POS materials for merchandising and retail solutions
  • Local customer marketing activity and Regional Business Consultant requests
  • Corporate materials including adverts, internal communications and HR documentation
  • Creative assets for marketing campaigns
  • Digital assets including website content, email graphics, social media visuals and online banners
  • Photography processing and image preparation for print and digital use

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

Core Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed

  • Around a year's design and artworking experience gained in-house, at an agency, on a placement/internship, or through freelance/university project work
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, with some exposure to Figma and digital design tools
  • Competent using Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel where required
  • Confident working on PC systems and using studio hardware such as printers, scanners and cameras
  • Educated to degree level and/or HND in Graphic Design or a related discipline
  • Good understanding of print processes, artwork specifications and colour reproduction
  • An interest in developing expertise in packaging artwork and print production, even if your hands-on experience so far is limited

Desirable Skills

  • Experience or interest in using AI tools to support design, ideation, or production workflows
  • Experience working within a product-led or technical industry
  • Understanding of digital-first design principles
  • Photography knowledge and basic image editing experience
  • Interest in developing skills across a broad range of creative outputs
  • Knowledge of Asana management tools
