Specification
We are seeking an enthusiastic and technically minded Junior Infrastructure Engineer to join our global IT team based in Redhill.
NUS Consulting Group is an independent, privately-owned energy management and sustainability consultancy operating across 19 offices worldwide. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop a career in enterprise infrastructure and cloud technologies while gaining exposure to a broad range of Microsoft technologies and data centre operations.
Working alongside senior infrastructure engineers and the wider IT team, you will assist in supporting the organisation's servers, virtualization platforms, cloud services, networking infrastructure and Microsoft 365 environment. The role combines day-to-day operational support with project work and will provide significant opportunities for professional development and technical growth.
You will gain hands-on experience supporting physical infrastructure within our UK data centres while developing expertise across Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Entra ID and enterprise networking technologies.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist with the administration and support of Windows Server environments.
- Support Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization infrastructure.
- Monitor the health, performance and availability of servers and infrastructure services.
- Assist with the administration of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 services.
- Support Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy administration.
- Provide first and second-line support for infrastructure-related incidents and service requests.
- Assist with patch management, software deployments and system upgrades.
- Support backup processes and assist with disaster recovery testing activities.
- Troubleshoot server, desktop, application and network connectivity issues.
- Assist with the installation, configuration and maintenance of physical and virtual servers.
- Support MS SQL Server administration activities under guidance from senior team members.
- Maintain and update technical documentation and asset records.
- Participate in infrastructure projects and technology rollouts.
- Assist with the setup, maintenance and decommissioning of hardware within company data centres.
- Work with third-party vendors and service providers when required.
- Follow IT security policies, operational procedures and change management processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the IT infrastructure environment.

Candidate Profile
Essential
- 1-3 years' experience in an IT Support, Systems Administrator, Service Desk or Junior Infrastructure role.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Windows Server.
- Basic knowledge of virtualization technologies such as Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Understanding of Microsoft 365 administration.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Active Directory concepts.
- Basic understanding of networking principles, including:
- TCP/IP
- DNS
- DHCP
- VPNs
- Switching and routing fundamentals
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and pursue technical certifications.

Desirable
- Experience supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
- Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server.
- Knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with endpoint management technologies such as Microsoft Intune.
- Experience working with backup and recovery solutions.
- Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Experience working within data centre environments.
- Microsoft certifications such as:
- Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900)
- Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
- Azure Administrator (AZ-104)
- Windows Server or Infrastructure related certifications
