Description

Permanent contract, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Bath College seeks to appoint an additional Junior IT Engineer to join its IT function. IT Engineers maintain and improve our digital infrastructure ensuring a secure and resilient foundation for the delivery of services across the organisation. In addition, our engineering team acts as a point of escalation, assisting first-line service desk staff to provide outstanding customer service by resolving complex incidents and requests.

Working as part of a team, the postholder will have opportunities to use and develop system administration skills for network infrastructure, cybersecurity tools, Windows 11 and Windows Server, Linux, MacOS, Intune, Jamf, enterprise server/storage hardware and cloud infrastructure among other areas. The role is ideal for an individual with hands-on experience in some of the areas listed and looking to broaden and deepen their knowledge across a range of enterprise technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and enhance College IT systems
  • Provide support in the use of, and troubleshoot problems with, College IT systems.
  • Investigate and roll out new hardware, software, processes, and systems within the College.
  • Install, configure, or upgrade College IT systems to suit current requirements.
  • Analyse College IT requirements and research technical solutions to meet them.
  • Collaborate with and, where necessary, supervise external support engineers.
  • Work as part of a team to deliver large IT projects.
  • Assist with the coordination and planning of projects and preparation of associated plans and reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of IT systems; suggest and research improvements to College systems
