About the Role
Our client is a global player in the Energy infrastructure industry, an owner and operator of bulk liquid storage and distribution assets, which supports the international movement of energy products.
This role forms part of the Legal & Compliance department based in London and will act as a no.2 to the Head of Legal & Compliance. The successful candidate, who will hold a Law degree, will enjoy great exposure to senior leaders, and work on a wide range of important issues and projects; a genuine opportunity to learn and hone your legal negotiation skills.
Key Responsibilities
Legal
- Support the negotiation and execution of commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with the firm’s legal, commercial and compliance requirements.
- Assist with the preparation, review and maintenance of corporate and legal documentation across the company and its assets.
- Assist with corporate governance, corporate secretarial and entity management activities across the company’s portfolio of assets and subsidiaries.
Compliance
- Support the implementation and enhancement of the firm’s Corporate Compliance Programme across its assets and operations, working closely with the Head of Legal and Compliance and Local Compliance Champions and Coordinators.
- Assist with periodic compliance risk assessments and the identification of emerging compliance risks across the business.
- Support the adaptation and implementation of company compliance policies, procedures and guidelines to meet local legal and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with local legal and compliance teams on compliance-related matters.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations and management updates on the status of compliance initiatives and risk mitigation activities.
- Provide practical advice and guidance to company personnel on day-to-day compliance issues, including anti-bribery and corruption, conflicts of interest, third-party due diligence.
- Deliver compliance training and awareness programmes, both remotely and in person, across company operations.
- Assist in developing annual compliance training plans and monitoring completion across company assets.
- Support the design, implementation and testing of compliance controls and monitoring activities.
- Monitor regulatory developments, industry trends and best practices relevant to legal, compliance and governance matters.

Key Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB or equivalent).
Experience
- Up to 2+ years' experience in private practice and/or an in-house legal and compliance function or newly graduated/qualified lawyer.
- Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Exposure to compliance, regulatory, corporate governance, corporate secretarial and insurance matters.
- Experience within the energy, infrastructure, logistics, commodities or related sectors would be advantageous.

Knowledge & Skills
- Strong theoretical and/or practical understanding of commercial contracts and general corporate legal principles.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks, including anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, competition law and third-party due diligence programmes.
- Excellent legal drafting, contract review and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal and compliance issues clearly and commercially.
- Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese would be advantageous.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- High attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions.
