Junior M&A Associate
Location: London Area
Working pattern: Full-time, hybrid
Company Description
Union River Management is an acquisition-focused investment firm seeking to identify, acquire and grow established UK businesses. We focus on profitable companies with resilient cash flow, capable management teams and clear opportunities for long-term growth. The successful candidate will work alongside senior leadership and external advisers, gaining direct exposure to live acquisition opportunities.
Role Description
The Junior M&A Associate will support the full deal lifecycle, from sourcing and evaluation through to due diligence and transaction execution. Key responsibilities include:
- Researching sectors, markets and acquisition targets
- Building and maintaining target-company databases
- Reviewing business opportunities and financial information
- Preparing financial models, valuation analyses and investment papers
- Supporting outreach to business owners, brokers and advisers
- Coordinating due diligence and tracking deal progress
- Assisting with offers, transaction materials and post-acquisition planning

This is a hands-on role within a growing, entrepreneurial investment firm, offering meaningful responsibility and close involvement in decision-making.
Qualifications
Candidates should have:
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- A sound understanding of finance, financial statements and valuation
- Experience with financial modelling in Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- A genuine interest in M&A, private equity and business ownership
A relevant degree and prior experience in investment banking, corporate finance, consulting, accounting or private equity would be beneficial. Progress towards qualifications such as the CFA or CISI would also be advantageous.
