About the Role
This exciting apprenticeship with the Local Highway Operations department where you will be working across two teams focused on road safety and active travel, supporting Project Officers in delivering behavioural change projects.
Wage: £25,583 a year
Training course: Junior management consultant (level 4)
Hours: Monday - Friday. Flexible working options available, to be agreed with your manager. 37 hours a week

What you'll do at work
You will undertake and complete the various elements of the Junior Management Consultant Level 4 Apprenticeship, including the Functional Skills, Knowledge and Understanding, and Behaviours required of that apprenticeship. This will involve:
- Regular virtual learning sessions
- Working with an assessor to develop a work-based portfolio
- Undertaking work-based assessments
- Completing all assignments/projects relating to the Apprenticeship framework
- Presenting evidence portfolios for assessment within specified timeframes
As an apprentice you will experience getting involved in:
- Collecting, analysing and interpreting data
- Conducting research
- Communicating with colleagues, stakeholders, supply chain partners and customers
- Organising the logistics of projects
- Contributing to report writing
- Using statistical evidence to support recommendations and conclusions
- Supporting with consultations and engagement with external and internal stakeholders

What you'll learn
Course contents
- S1 Communication skills: Speak and write clearly, influence others, actively listen, question effectively and structure conversations. Support or run meetings and clearly present a point of view to audiences. Communicate appropriately through a variety of channels and platforms.
- S2 Team working skills: Work effectively within a group environment made up of different personality types. Be aware of one’s own and other people’s emotions and use this understanding to guide decisions.
- S3 Business analysis: Use a range of tools and methodologies to help analyse an organisation (such as SWOT analysis). Undertake qualitative and quantitative research.
- S4 Relationship building: Build rapport and trust, maintain relationships once they are built and be able to repair them when they are damaged.
- S5 Personal management: Manage time effectively and prioritise workloads. Take time to reflect on project successes and learn from failure. Maintain good health and energy through a work / life balance.
- S6 Project management: Plan, organise and manage resources in order to achieve set goals. Help create objectives at the start of a project, support the development and implementation of project plans and help monitor progress. Proactively identify risks and issues and help create action plans to address these.
- S7 IT technical capabilities: Be able to assist in the creation of reports, word processed documents, spreadsheets, slide decks for presentation and software for project management. These are the most prominent, though there are others depending on the consultancy.
- S8 Report writing: Help produce reports that clearly present recommendations for change using a range of qualitative information and numerical data.

Training schedule
You will undertake and complete the various elements of the Junior Management Consultant Level 4 Apprenticeship, including the Functional Skills, Knowledge and Understanding, and Behaviours required of that apprenticeship. This will involve regular virtual learning sessions, working with an assessor to develop a work-based portfolio, undertaking work-based assessments, completing all assignments/projects relating to the apprenticeship framework, and presenting evidence portfolios for assessment within specified timeframes.
The apprenticeship will be delivered online with remote support from Rewards Training throughout the apprenticeship. The apprenticeship is typically completed within an 18-month period that includes the End Point Assessment (EPA).
Requirements
Essential qualifications
- GCSE in: 5 x GCSEs (including English and Maths) (grade C/4)
- A Level in: Various (grade C)
