Job Description
ALTEN is looking for a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to support an exciting aerospace manufacturing programme.
This is a hands-on, shop-floor focused position where you will work closely with production teams and operators, providing day-to-day engineering support and helping to resolve technical and manufacturing queries.
A key part of the role will also involve supporting and training shop-floor employees in the use of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), helping ensure manufacturing processes and digital work instructions are followed correctly.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day engineering support on the manufacturing shop floor.
- Respond to and help resolve technical queries from production teams.
- Support manufacturing activities and investigate production issues.
- Provide guidance to operators on engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Support and train shop-floor employees in the effective use of the MES platform.
- Help ensure manufacturing information and digital work instructions are correctly understood and followed.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Production, Quality, and Engineering teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes and ways of working.
- Escalate more complex technical issues to the appropriate engineering teams.
- Support continuous improvement activities across the production environment.

Qualifications
Required Skills
- Experience working within a manufacturing, production, or shop-floor environment.
- Good understanding of manufacturing and production processes.
- Comfortable providing hands-on support to shop-floor operators.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical information and work instructions.
- Comfortable using digital manufacturing systems and learning new software.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience within aerospace manufacturing.
- Exposure to MES / Manufacturing Execution Systems.
- Experience supporting or training production operators.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement.
- Experience dealing with manufacturing technical queries.
