More About The Role

We are currently looking for a Junior Merchandiser to be based at our Nutmeg office in Coalville. In this role, you will assist the Merchandiser/Senior Merchandiser in planning, purchasing, intake and distribution of merchandise to maximise sales and margin for the department. You will also be accountable for given categories including merchandising strategy, intake, stock, sales & profit figures working alongside the buying team and with guidance from the Merchandiser/Senior Merchandiser.

Some more of your responsibilities include:

  • Develop positive working relationships with all suppliers ensuring fully conversant with all orders passing through the system, working closely with the buying team to ensure an awareness of all orders being proposed
  • Identify any opportunities and risk in the supply base, and propose suggestions to Merchandiser/Senior Merchandiser
  • Effectively manage and delegate tasks in the Merchandiser/Senior Merchandiser's absence
  • Being a supportive and effective team member
  • Deliver a commercial and competitive range for given category whilst ensuring that the brand standards in both quality and value are maintained and sales and profit targets are met
  • Present to Merchandiser/Senior merchandiser a clearly defined merchandising plan and strategy for the given category supported by clear and sound reasoning

This role is based at our fantastic head office in Bradford with an expectation that you will be on-site a minimum of 3 days a week. Boasting an on-site restaurant, coffee shop, convenience and sample store, prayer room, free parking and regular company-wide events and promotions. Ideally, applicants will live within a reasonable distance of our office.

More About You

For this role, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Clear understanding of how to serve Customer needs and requirements
  • Ability to champion the customer and retail a customer focus through daily routines
  • Able to take on new information, adapt style and learn new ways of working.
  • Able to understand customer needs and find ways to improve availability
  • Take responsibility for own learning, keeping skills and knowledge up to date and sharing knowledge with others through mentoring
  • The ability to create environments where sharing ideas, issues and concerns is the norm
  • Planning and organising
  • Influence and relationship building
  • Commercial Acumen – ability to judge the market and maximise sales and profit
  • Experience with clothing retailer or supplier
  • Awareness and some experience of pre-season planning to deliver a commercial range with a profitable model
  • Fashion/business qualification
