Primary Purpose:
This is a junior role primarily responsible for preparing, operating and maintaining the dub stages and associated equipment. We are looking for a team player with a clear passion for sound and sound engineering, as well as a self-motivated problem solver with good communication skills. Please note this is not a creative Sound Design / Mixing role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Essential maintenance of Theatre Macs, Pro Tools systems and Avid S6.
- Organisation, Ingest and archival of live and legacy projects on media servers.
- General upkeep of Machine Rooms and Theatres.
- Liaison with the mix tech and engineering teams to ensure smooth changeovers between projects in the theatres.
- Assistance with the Front of House teams to ensure the Sound department is always presentable and delivers a consistently high standard of client service.
- Shadowing Mix Technicians and Senior Mix Technicians to develop the skills required to progress into a Mix Technician role.
- Be responsible for MCR and sound studio function, working with the Senior Mix Technician to maintain technical and operational standard.
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of the sound studio.
- Efficient operation and responsibility for ongoing projects within the sound department.
- Setting up, testing and operating relevant equipment prior to and during every sound mix.
- Competent operation and maintenance of technical equipment in the studio and MCR.
- Production and Delivery of Audio Deliverables for Feature Film and TV projects.
- Safe IO and archival of media for associated projects.
- Monitor technical quality control.
- Produce daily and weekly time reports for work completed in the studio.
- Liaise with operational, managerial and financial staff to ensure the seamless delivery of services.
- Assisting the Senior Mix Technician in the training and development of Junior members of the team.
- Be a point of contact for clients and visitors in any dealings they may have with the Sound department.
- Provide exceptional client service when carrying out tasks.
- To answer or redirect general queries from clients.
- Adhere to the Health and Safety policy.
- To assist in other departments as and when necessary.
- Ad hoc tasks as required to ensure the smooth running of the studios.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

- Pro-active and self-motivated, with good organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
- Numerate, with good basic level maths, and able to remain accurate under stress.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to create an immediate rapport with a range of contacts.
- Ability to understand client needs and priorities by questioning in a diplomatic manner.
- To be sensitive to the differing needs of clients and staff.

Non Essential, but Preferred:
- Knowledge and Experience of Avid S6 workflows.
- Experience in a Machine Room/Transfer Bay environment.
- Basic knowledge of Dolby Atmos/IMAX/5.1 workflow.
- Basic understanding of Ams-Neve DFC console.
