Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for Junior NC Manufacturing Engineer.
Full time permanent position
39 hours per week
Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB.
Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.
The Junior NC Manufacturing Engineer will support the NC Manufacturing Engineering team in the development and production of CNC machining programmes and manufacturing processes.
This is a development-focused position designed to provide structured training and practical experience in CATIA, NC programming, machining strategies, tooling and CNC manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced NC Manufacturing Engineers, initially shadowing and supporting their activities before progressively taking responsibility for defined tasks and programmes.
The role will provide a pathway to becoming a fully competent NC Manufacturing Engineer within the organisation.

Essential Responsibilities
- Support experienced engineers in the creation and modification of CNC programmes
- Develop proficiency in CATIA and associated manufacturing engineering tools
- Learn the principles and techniques of NC programming for CNC machining
- Learn how to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, manufacturing specifications and customer requirements
- Gain knowledge of cutting tools, work holding, machining parameters and cutting strategies
- Shadow experienced NC Manufacturing Engineers to understand the complete process from engineering definition through to production
- Develop an understanding of company procedures, aerospace standards and manufacturing requirements
- Assist with investigating machining problems, process issues and production constraints
- Support continuous improvement activities within the machining environment
- Assist with the development and implementation of improved machining strategies and processes
- Develop an understanding of manufacturing capability, cycle time, quality and cost considerations
- Work closely with experienced NC Engineers and other members of the Manufacturing Engineering team

Position Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English
- Relevant engineering/manufacturing apprenticeship with a demonstrable interest in CNC machining
Desirable Criteria:
- High Speed Machining experience
- Long Bed Machining experience
